A Classic Jamaica Inn Mojito

November 4, 2014

IMG_20141024_122529 (1280x720)One of our most popular and most requested cocktails at The Inn is a classic Cuban Mojito.
We use fresh mint, of course, and what makes ours a little different (and special) is that we use brown sugar in the mix! This cocktail is extremely refreshing and our guests love to sip it during the hot and balmy beach days.
Rajay shows us how easy the mojito is to make in the steps below.

Classic Jamaica Inn Mojito ingredients

(serves one)

  • 2 ounces light white rum (Rajay used Appleton)
  • A handful of fresh mint
  • ¼ cup of soda water
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • Lime wedge for garnish
  • Ice

Muddle the mint leaves at the bottom of the glass with the brown sugar and lime juice mixture. This helps the fragrant oils of the mint to be released, and for the sugar to be mixed together well. You can also use simple syrup for a better combination.  Pack the ice over the mint leaves after muddling to prevent the mint leaves from floating around in the glass.

Top off with soda water and garnish with a lime wedge. Cheers!
