Kyle Mais of The Jamaica Inn Foundation recently presented a check to Scarlett McCabe, Program Director of Debate Mate.
Debate Mate is a unique, international and educational non-profit charity dedicated to improving social mobility through cost effective peer-to-peer debate mentoring.
By teaching debate through peer-to-peer mentoring, Debate Mate empowers youth and inspires participants and provides them with powerful role models to raise their aspirations.
According to Scarlett, the students who have been participating so far in Jamaica have had positive life changing experiences such as being able to address social problems and set goals for their future.
Scarlett manages the charity on a daily basis here in Jamaica. Scarlett’s mother and Founder of Debate Mate, Margaret McCabe, is based at the Head Office in London. There are also teams who manage Debate Mate globally in the Caribbean, USA, Nepal, Zambia and Rwanda.
The Jamaica Inn Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established to provide support to our local community by means of aiding organizations dedicated to the education of our youth as well as assisting in the protection and preservation of our marine environs.
