Please join us in welcoming Kyle Mais, the new general manager, to our Jamaica Inn family. A native Jamaican from Ocho Rios and experienced hotelier, Kyle is looking forward to keeping the Inn up-to-date with the services and amenities you desire while maintaining the relaxing atmosphere that you have come to appreciate.
“We are very excited to have Kyle join us,” said Eric Morrow, co-owner of Jamaica Inn. “He is a unique individual who understands the personal needs of guests who prefer to vacation at small luxury properties, while also having a strong hospitality acumen from his work at larger resorts.”
Prior to joining Jamaica Inn , Kyle worked at several renowned properties on the island. He was general manager at Strawberry Hill Hotel, an award-winning boutique resort with 12 luxury cottages and part of the Island Outpost collection. Most recently he was the hotel manager at Sandals Negril. An experienced business man, Kyle also spent several years at First Mobile, a Vodaphone telecommunications company, in Auckland, New Zealand.
Kyle holds a B.A. in Economics from Bishops University in Quebec and an MBA from Massey University in Auckland, where he met and married his wife Hillary. He is a world traveler, an interesting conversationalist and has a keen eye for details. We believe he will be a perfect fit for Jamaica Inn and feel confident you will too.
On a more personal side, Kyle’s wife gave birth to Xavier, just three weeks ago in London. She and the rest of the family — other son Cameron and daughters Demi and Trinity — are planning on returning to Jamaica after school is out in July.
Jamaica Inn is famous for delivering exceptional service, mainly as a result of our long-term staff who become a part of our family. This is true for waiters, housekeepers, bartenders and general managers, some of whom have been with the resort for more than 50 years. Mary Phillips, the previous general manager, provided 11 years of dedicated service prior to deciding it was time to seek new challenges. She, and her two beloved English Cocker Spaniels, will be greatly missed and we thank Mary for her years of faithful service to the Inn.
Welcome Kyle Mais

Kyle,
Welcome to The Inn – a little piece of Heaven on Earth, if there ever was one.
Nadia and I first visited The Inn in 1966, and have been returning whenever we can ever since, and every year in February for the past twenty years.
You are now in charge of “The Best of the Best”, and though we will all miss the wonderful “Miss Mary”, we wish you the very best of success in keeping it that way.
We look forward to meeting and getting to know you next February.
Best of luck and happiness to Mary Phillips in whatever she does hereafter.

My first visit to the Jamaica Inn was in June of 1988. Most recently (2010?) I brought my company’s film crew there to stay because the Jamaica Inn always has been for me a wonderful, enchanting experience. My best to Ms. Phillips. She was good to me, and us. I am hopeful that you will not only carry on the tradition but also be as kind to the guests and staff as was she. Best of luck!
