Jamaica Inn Foundation’s 9th Annual Backgammon Tournament
June 19 - 21st, 2026
The Jamaica Inn Foundation Backgammon Tournament will be held for the ninth time, June 19th – 21st, with players competing for the winning title as well as a wide range of cash prizes & experiences. As it has been since inception, the proceeds of the tournament weekend will go towards funding the White River Fish Sanctuary, which aims to conserve, restore, and engage marine life in the local Ocho Rios area. This year’s tournament will be directed by Phil Simborg, the world's first “Professor of Backgammon”.
Entry Fees:
Warm-Up Tournament - US$95 Entry Fee
Main Tournament - US$275 Entry Fee
Professional-grade backgammon boards are provided for match play

Friday 19th, June
3:00 pm - Check-in for those staying on property (special rate available - please contact Jamaica Inn directly)
4:00 pm - Silent auction is live (all proceeds will go towards the WRFS)
6:00 pm – 6:30 pm - Lecture by Backgammon legend, Philip Simborg - Three Secrets to Make You a Winner (free of charge)
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm - Welcome cocktails & warm-up tournament draw
7:30 pm - Warm-up tournament begins - separate seeded & non-seeded games
10:00 pm - Draw for main tournament
Saturday 20th, June
7:30 am - 9:30 am - Continental breakfast will be available at tournament location
10:00 am - Main tournament begins
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm – Lunch
6:00 pm - Tournament ends
7:00 pm – Prize giving at Beach Bungalows & closing cocktail party
8:00 pm – silent auction ends
Sunday 21st, June
7:30 am - 10:30 am Breakfast at your leisure
8:00 am - 9:00 am Complimentary yoga class at The Ocean Spa
10:00 am - Glass-bottom boat tour of the White River Fish Sanctuary
All Day – Please feel free to set up friendly backgammon games in our Upper Dining Room at leisure
